The athletic programs are organized by SJRS parents and volunteers who oversee and runs these programs.  Our teams generally participate in local leagues such as Concord Parks and Recreation and the Merrimack Basketball League.  Fees, charged to participate in these programs, generally cover the league entrance fees and uniform and equipment costs.  Additional fees, required to operate the programs, such as gym or field time are paid for with monies raised from fundraising activities.

Skiing

Ski Team

Here is some basic information on the ski program. Although it is not directly sponsored by the School, SJRS does accommodate the program. Applications are taken in October, so please look for more specific details at that time.

  • The program is held at Pat’s Peak and runs for five consecutive Fridays beginning  in January, usually after returning from Christmas vacation.
  • Since this program is NOT school sponsored, there is no bus transportation. Children are dismissed from school at 2:15 pm to be taken to the mountain.
  • First and Second Grade children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • The cost will range from approximately $100 to $250 depending upon equipment rentals and whether your child skis or snowboards.
  • The lessons start at 3:30 pm and are one hour long.
  • After the lessons, the mountain is open for the entire family to enjoy. Parents have the opportunity to purchase reduced-rate lift tickets after the lessons, since their children are in the program.

Track & Field at SJRS

Track & Field is open to boys and girls in grade 5-8.   The students participate in Track and Field events such as 100m, 200m, 400m, relays, shot-put, discus, long jump, triple jump and javelin.

There are two purposes of the Track & Field program at SJRS:

  1. to introduce students to the running and field events that are featured at meets, and
  2. to prepare them for high school competition.

There are approximately five to six meets per season.  The season runs from late March/early April until the end of May.
